ORG was founded in order to create a community wide rafting event that was open to all members of the River Community in order to bring all types of river users together in the spirit of the Olympics, where the focus is upon commonality, and where politics are left behind. In keeping with that Olympic spirit, Olympic style gold silver and bronze medals are awarded to the top three places in each event.
Seeking to build an event that promotes the State of Oregon and opens competitive opportunities to many excluded in the past.
Oregon River Games has grown to include not only rafts, cat-a-rafts and inflatable kayaks. Now ORG offers a plethora of events and races including:
Drift Boat Races (the only known event of its kind)
The Dutch Oven Society, St Helen’s Chapter presents a demonstration
and Dutch Oven Cook-Off

Starting in 2006, Oregon River Games teamed with the American River Festival in California and the Wenatchee River Festival in Washington to form the West Coast Championship rafting series. 2007 saw the addition of the PBR Revival, a white water racing event on Idaho’s Payette River.
A vendor fair at Carter Bridge brings out manufacturers and retailers with the latest river gear and some good food is served up to participants, volunteers, staff and, spectators.
Saturday evening sees social activities with blue grass and / or blues bands serenading river folk and gatherings around the campfire.
Safety is a foremost concern and professional river rescue personnel; experienced Venture Crews are kept busy pulling swimmers to safety while an ambulance waits on standby. Clackamas County provides reserve Sherriff Deputies to keep watch on the roads and a night time security service watches over our festival center during the quiet hours
Oregon River Games Inc. is headed by a slate of officers responsible for the legal side of running an organization like this while the River Games themselves are governed by a board of directors whom share the responsibilities of bringing the Games to life.
Beginning in 2007, Oregon River Games Inc. was invited to join the River Fest in Maupin, Oregon. We were invited to stage river races and help organize the first
Deschutes River clean-up. As a result of timing, we were able to only organize the
Clean-up this year. It went well and in 2008 we will stage the first Deschutes River Games as a part of Maupin’s River Fest.
Oregon River Games was asked to submit and we have done so, a letter to the United
States Rafting Association containing a proposal to stage the 2008 United States Nationals. At this writing we are awaiting the outcome of the decision as where to locate the US National Rafting Championships.
In August of 2007, Paul Daffer formally resigned his position as President, Oregon River
Games. Subsequently, Gary Schoenecker has was elected President.
